According to the Bible, Jacob (pbuh) wrestled God Almighty and defeated him. God then renamed Jacob (pbuh) , Israel which literally means grapple with God. And Jacob (pbuh) named the place that he wrestled God, Peniel, which literally means face of God. Jacob (pbuh) said he named the place Peniel because he saw God face to face and his life was preserved. In the best-selling book “Purpose Driven Life,” Rick Warren admits that the Bible says Jacob (pbuh) actually wrestled God.
Is this possible?
Muslims hold prophets of God in great respect. We believe these men to be of exemplary character. We believe that God chose these men because of their righteousness and their devotion to him. Therefore we eschew the Biblical depiction of a God-wrestling Jacob, a drunken Noah, an incestuous Lot, a murderous Moses, an adulterous David and a blasphemous Aaron (pbut), as a false representation of these great men of God. In the same manner, there exist great misrepresentations of the last prophet of God, Muhammad (pbuh). Some estimate that there have been over 50,000 books written with the sole purpose and intention of defaming this great man of God. Some wish to extinguish the light of truth, but they can never extinguish it.
Islam is the religion which gives these men the justice due to them. Muslims name themselves after these men and follow their code of conduct to achieve that closeness with God that these men achieved. |
