On the seventh day, God is said to have rested, which is objectionable from the Islamic viewpoint.
Genesis 2:3 And G-d blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it He rested from all His work which G-d in creating had made.
This day is commemorated as the Sabbath of the Jews in which they do not work each Saturday of the week, as God did not work of this day. Yet the Qur'an’s declaration is that God neither sleeps nor slumbers and he feels no fatigue (Al-Quran 2:255). This sentiment by the Qur’an contradicts the idea that God rested and was refreshed on the day after creation (Exodus 31:17). |
