The Quran condemns the belief that God has an actual son as one of the highest orders of blasphemy (5:27). We find in chapter 19 that ALLAH says that the skies, the ground and mountain would cry out, if they had feelings like man, when such blasphemy is uttered against ALLAH, that a human being is
his equal or of his nature.
Al-Qur'an 19:88 They say: "(Allah) Most Gracious has begotten a son!"
Al-Qur’an 19:89 Indeed ye have put forth a thing most monstrous!
Al-Qur’an 19:90 At it the skies are ready to burst, the earth to split asunder, and the mountains to fall down in utter ruin
Al-Qur’an 19:91 That they should invoke a son for (Allah) Most Gracious.
Al-Qur’an 19:92 For it is not consonant with the majesty of (Allah) Most Gracious that He should beget a son.
ALLAH is drawing our attention to the severity of this blasphemous claim. This, in turn, has Muslims combating this notion most vehemently. The diligence of the Muslims on this topic has caused Christian scholars, evangelists and apologists to redefine the word “begotten,” eschew it or remove it all together.
Muslims are taught that “begetting” is an act that is beneath God. He can accomplish his goals without degrading or compromising his majesty.
Al-Qur’an 19:35 It is not befitting to (the majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son. Glory be to Him! when He determines a matter, He only says to it, "Be", and it is. |
